For the computer, it is located... Well follow your throtle cable down to the top of you engine. Just below where it attaches, you'll see a two wire plug. Remove the plug, and...there it is. Use a 3/4 in. socket. Now, if we are talking the one for the gauge.... I'll have to let you know. That's what I am here looking for. Adam Shump ashump@chartermi.net

I believe they are the same. I just purchased one and they referred to it as a switch when I called it a unit.
Temp sending units in general (not always) are usually found close to the thermostat.
Temperature Gauge Sending Unit The sending unit is located in the front section of the intake manifold in the vicinity of the thermostat.
had a problem with my 2001 impala 3.8. dealer said it temperature sending unit, then water pump neither fixed the problem. finally replaced the thermaostat and that worked. don't know if that is your problem but may be something to think about.
Facing the motor look directly under the air intake tube it is brass in color and looks similar to a spark plug its on the right. Two wires are attached to it with a small black clip.It just screws in.
The sending unit and the fuel pump are all one module in the gas tank.

it could be your brake light switch,or the fuse could be blown ,or the bulbs could be blown.or it could also be the turn signal switch.
The water temperature sending unit is on the front of the engine. It is next to the top water hose inlet connection.
On the 4.0 L OHV engine, the oil pressure sending unit is on the driver's side of the engine, located below the power steering pump.
