There is usually an ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor and a CTS (coolant temp sensor) located around the thermostat housing mounted in the intake. One sends coolant temp to the guage, the other sends temp to computer.

In the drivers footwell , on the side panel in front of the drivers door , there is an access hole for the switch
it is right across from my thermostat and i have a 2000 mercury cougur it srews in and out.
In the drivers footwell , there is an acess hole through the kick panel to reset the switch that is located behind the kick panel
You can switch the traction control system off using the switch to the left of the radio on a 2000 Ford Windstar

On our 2000 Ford Contour 2.0 L 4 cylinder, the thermostat is located in a housing on the right side of the engine. Trace the upper radiator hose to the engine and it is located in that housing. To replace, disconnect the radiator hose from the housing. Be prepared for a 1/2 gallon or so of anit-freeze to spill. Remove the front plate from the housing by unscrewing the 3 screws using a hex head type screwdriver. Thermostat and gasket should slip right out.
it is located where the transmission is and is very easy to change. on a 2000 ford contour that is.
Try the right side of the dash when you open the passenger door. There may be a panel you can remove and hit the reset as is the case on many fords ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a 2000 Ford Contour the fuel pump shut off switch ( inertia switch ) is in the drivers footwell , by the drivers left foot , behind the kick panel ( there is an access hole in the kick panel )
It should be a toggle switch right above the radio
