ok, pop the hood on that sucker. stand right in the center of the car.
close to the front of the car you will see this electric fan apparatus, on the far side of the radiator(from you) take your right hand and run it along the top of this fan till you reach the far right edge of it, take your hand and go like 2 inches forward and straight down should be the little apparatus aptly labeled Speed Sensor
so basically of the right corner of the electric fan behing the radiato
given the history of the car its probably covered in like an 16th inch layer of grease and you have to wipe it off
if your throttle is sticking (as it often did in mine) the apparatus in which you seek is not to blame... take off that ridiculously huge air filter (3 plastic screws) and take the whole thing(lid, airfilter and the part that holds the airfilter up) and set it off to the right( should still be attached to a hose) and look on the right side of your carb.(the thing you just took your airfliter off of) and check for the notorious broken throttle cable of reliants.
if sticking throttle cable isn't your problem, then best o luck
Is it easy to replace a throttle body in an 88 sentra? How do you clean a throttle body
under the throttle body next to the thermosat housing.
It's not a code ,it's the start of the diagnostic programn.codes follow ,then 55 to end code reading.
There are actually two different devices that fit this description. The sensor that runs the guage is directly above the oil filter on the passenger side of the engine. This part has a conecter that looks like the threads of a bolts. The sensor for the computer is connected to the same housing for the thermostat. This part has a connecter with a two prong plug.
To adjust the voltage for the throttle position sensor (TPS) on a 1993 Oldsmobile 88 Royale, first, locate the TPS connector and use a multimeter to measure the voltage output while the ignition is in the "on" position. The voltage should typically range between 0.5 to 0.9 volts at closed throttle and increase smoothly as the throttle opens. If adjustments are needed, turn the TPS sensor slightly to align it within the specified voltage range. Always ensure the adjustments are made with the engine off to avoid any accidental throttle movement.
There were 2 different Cassette players available from the factory, but since the Reliant was discontinued almost 20 years ago, going to a store like Best Buy and finding a Cassette Deck is your best option. But finding a good working Cassette Deck online (like eBay) for any Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge (except for the Colt) from 1984 to 1998 is also an option. Those are all interchangeable with the one in your '88 Reliant.
The Coolant Temperature Sensor is located on the driver's side of the lower intake manifold, just under the throttle body. It will have an electrical plug comining out of one end.
To remove the drive belts on a 1988 Plymouth Reliant 2.2, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the belt tensioner and use a wrench or ratchet to relieve tension on the belt, allowing you to slip it off the pulleys. If there are multiple belts, note their routing for reinstallation, and repeat the process for each belt. Finally, remove any additional components if necessary to access the belts more easily.
To install the throttle position sensor (TPS) on your 1986 Oldsmobile Delta 88, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Then, locate the TPS on the throttle body, remove the screws or bolts securing it, and detach the old sensor. Position the new TPS in place, secure it with screws, reconnect the electrical connector, and finally reconnect the battery terminal. Make sure to adjust the sensor if necessary, following the manufacturer's specifications for voltage or resistance.
On a 1988 Plymouth Reliant with a 2.2L engine, the electric fan thermostat is typically located near the engine's cooling system, often mounted on or near the radiator or in the engine block. It may be integrated into the cooling fan relay or found in the wiring harness connected to the fan. For precise location, consulting the vehicle's service manual or wiring diagrams is recommended, as placement can vary slightly based on specific models and configurations.
To replace the throttle position sensor (TPS) on a 1988 Jeep Comanche, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Locate the TPS on the throttle body, usually secured by two screws; remove these screws and gently pull the sensor off. Install the new TPS by aligning it properly and securing it with the screws, then reconnect the electrical connector and the negative battery terminal. Finally, start the engine and check for proper operation.
On a 1996 Oldsmobile 88, the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is typically located on the intake manifold, near the throttle body. It is mounted on the engine's upper intake plenum. To access it, you may need to remove some components for better visibility, but it should be identifiable by its electrical connector and vacuum line.
