If you have the northstar motor with dual overhead cams you will find one timing mark on each cam gear as well as (after you unbolt the oil pump) a mark on the crank and a mark on the gear above . You should have a total of three chains driving the system one running from the crank to the gear above , one chain that runs from the drive gear to the left side head (which will be marked on the caps that hold down the cams on each head ,ie li le left intake left exhaust, there will also be the same marks on the right side head. The marks on the crank should line straight up and the mark on the gear above should also be positioned straight up each of the cam gears should at this point be facing 90 degrees from the flat surface where your valve cover seats i recommend using a speed square to make sure this is correct and you should be in perfect time.
