Depends on the model. Some 960's have, instead of a dipstick, a little thing on the lower driver side of the motor towards the firewall down near the crankcase. Some 940's and 240's (and i'd assume 740's) have them near the back of the cylinder head
No dipstick on the manual transmission , fluid level is checked underneath the car at the transmission fill plug
The manual transmission doesn't have a dipstick , the fluid level is checked at the fill plug on the transmission underneath the car
It is important to check and maintain the fluid levels while owning a car. The transmission dipstick of a 1993 Ford Probe is located behind the engine, to close to the firewall and it has a yellow cap.
The manual transmission doesn't have a dipstick . There will be a fill plug somewhere on the transmission underneath the car
A person should know the layout of their car. The transmission fluid dipstick is located on the passenger side of the car, and behind the engine.
There is a transmission dipstick on the Volvo 960 (in the UK the 960 has a 3 litre engine - though I believe that in the States the car is known as the 940).Open the bonnet (hood) and stand at the front. Locate the OIL dipstick on the right as you look at the engine. Draw an imaginary line from you to the OIL dipstick -then to the bulkhead. The transmission dipstick is located an arms-length down from where the imaginary line hits the bulkhead. It's awkward to find and not easy to access. The transmission oil dipstick has a yellow top (you will probably need a flashlight to peer down and see it) with a square recess. The square recess is designed to take a 3/8 LONG extension bar to pull it out. The dipstick is actually held in place by a spring-clip.Alternatively, you can crawl underneath the car from the left hand side - driver side in the States, Passenger side in the UK...) and remove the dipstick by reaching up. This is probably the easiest option. There's a couple of photos of the transmission dipstick location on my website www.glennsmart.btinternet.co.uk Click on 'Volvo 960' from the drop down menu.On 1995 and later US market 960s, there is no transmission dipstick. "Logic" at the time was that you NEVER had to change the transmission fluid. We now know this to be faulty "logic". Fluid must be filled from a fitting on the upper side of the transmission.
there's a yellow dipstick towards the drivers side of the car? that's the dipstick for transmission fluid
Yes, you can drive your car without a transmission dipstick, but it's not advisable. The dipstick is used to check the transmission fluid level and condition, which is crucial for the transmission's proper function. Without it, you risk running the transmission with insufficient or degraded fluid, potentially leading to serious damage. If your car is missing a dipstick, it's best to replace it or consult a mechanic for proper fluid checks.
It's on the drivers side of the car near the back it a little yellow square cap. It is about arm lenght down cant miss it .Thats where it is :)
On a UK Volvo 960 (they are 3 litre straight-six models) to find the transmission dipstick, first stand at the front of the car and locate the OIL dipstick and then continue looking towards the engine bulkhead the rear of the engine. The transmission dipstick is an arm length down. It has a square plastic yellow top that is recessed to accept a long 3/8 extension drive for removal. You can reach down, flick the spring loaded clip off with a thumb and withdraw the dipstick by hand. One side of the dipstck is for checking the fluid level when cold; the other side is for with a hot transmission. There's a couple of photos on glennsmart.btinternet.co.uk under 'Volvo 960' on the drop down menu.
To find the dipstick, look for a thin, plastic handle under the hood of the car. This is the transmission dipstick and can be used to check the fluid.
its on the transmission its really small some times u need a light to it its towards the front of the car and has a yellow rubberized handle if its a manual trans then there is no dipstick
