The transmission filter is a screw on type (it looks like a regular oil filter) and located next to the transmission dipstick. However there are some models that have a non-serviceable mesh filter. I went to several auto shops & they couldn't figure it out. To be sure, call dealer and tell them your car's VIN number.

The Mitsubishi Gallant does not have a removable transmission filter. It is found within the internal workings of the transmission itself.

The transmission drain plug on a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant is located on the front of the transmission, near the bottom. It allows the fluid to be easily removed during maintenance.
