Where is the transmission fluid dip stick on a 1996 gmc jimmy?
I called a local garage and was directed by the service man.
The transmission dipstick is located in back of the oil fill cap. It is covered with a lever that must be lifted up to remove the dipstick. Mine is a rusty tube where the dipstick is found.
I would not have found it without the service man's direction.
Under the hood you will find a cap that says TRANSMISSION, or something to that effect. The cap is attached to the top end of the transmission dip stick. Their is no such thing as a transmission fluid reservoir. All the fluid is in the transmission, the lines, and the cooler. You check the fluid with the dip stick, located near the fire wall, red handle, drivers side. Engine running-warm, in park or neutral. Check it several times to make sure of accurate reading.

this tipe a car usually comes with a sealed transmission ,,,,means no stick to check level fluids, the fluid is presure in to it ,,do not open ,, take to dealer or somebody that work in transmission ,,,also know at the dealer will cost u about 18 dollars a qt. of transmission fluid so be ready,,,,,good luck.......................
