It is located in the transmission pan behind the shifting linkage as far as I know.
On a E40d or 4r100 it is on the left side of the transmission. EXTERNAL, under the shift lever. Held on by 2 8mm headed bolts. Need a 15mm wrench to get the lever nut off to get to it.
