Connected to the upper radiator hose. Coolant flows from the engine to the radiator to be cooled. The coolant temp. sensor should be screwed into it.
Remove the water supply hose from the top of your 2005 Chevy Cavalier thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Lift the old thermostat out and drop in the new thermostat.

The water box is what the thermostat sits in with the water housing outlet coving it. If you follow your radiator hose the other end is your water housing outlet.
