It is possible that a Mustang transmission will fit in a Lincoln Mark VII. It is likely that the clutch plate and the pilot bearing will have to be changed.
The Transmission is controlled by the main computer. There is not a separate computer for the transmission.
To remove the starter from a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Then, locate the starter, which is positioned near the transmission. Remove the electrical connections from the starter, followed by the mounting bolts securing it to the engine block. Once the bolts are removed, carefully pull the starter out of its position.
Front or rear?
On a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII, the starter is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the transmission bell housing. It is mounted underneath the car, and access may require lifting the vehicle for easier reach. The starter is typically positioned towards the rear of the engine block, making it somewhat difficult to see without proper access.
