Transmissions for all 1985 tgrough 1993 front wheel drive Cadillacs are located behind the Engine about level with the engine oil pan and on the same centerline as the front wheels (they are connected directly to it). From the bottom of the vehicle, you will see a roughly triangular transmission oil pan 1 inch deep.
Try reseting the computer. My 92 Deville did that on day and it turned out to be a faulty air compressor drawing to many amps..
Try either the lower end of the steering column or on the side of the transmission
All of the 92 Devilles have a THM 440 Hydromatic transmission, this a 3speed with an overdrive and a converter clutch. Beyond that there were two different final drive ratios depending on if it is a base deville or a touring sedan and they are also different if you have traction control (not just ABS). You probably have more questions now than before. If you post them here, I will try to answer them. Cadillac Man

There are several things that can cause your Cadillac Deville to have transmission problems. The most common transmission problems are worn transmission gears.
wrong category...A deville is a CADILLAC not a LINCOLN TOWN CAR.
no, the cars computers are different and wouldn't be compatible with the different transmission type. it could possibly run but not well. i mean horribly. also, look if the 84 is electronically controlled. the 92 definitely is.
see answer given on how to change water pump on 92 deville. Same car.
I don't know much about cars but a Google search came up with these,http:/wwwzperiodzpartstrainzperiodzcom/ShopByVehicle/CADILLAC/DEVILLEhttp://www.parts.com/cadillac/1992-cadillac-deville-parts.cfmOr ask this forum,http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-deville-1985-2005-including-1985/185903-92-deville-starter.html
what kind of trnsmission fliud in a 1964 cadillac deville
That year did not use them, NO need to. That transmission is computer controlled.
just so you know everything has to be taken off the front end of a 96' DeVille to remove the transmission, includind the fenders.
