It may never be dumped in inland waters.
Inland waters should never be contaminated with hazardous materials such as industrial waste, chemicals, and heavy metals, as these can severely harm aquatic ecosystems and public health. Additionally, untreated sewage and plastics pose significant threats to water quality and wildlife. Dumping of any substances that disrupt the natural balance or introduce toxins is strictly prohibited to protect both the environment and human populations.
it is when you go off land to go on a boat and then you go to another island
G.H.C Waters has written: 'First lessons in human geography'
Many years ago, human sewerage was dumped straight into the sea, a case of out of sight, out of mind. That was the mismanaged part. Nowadays, there are regulations that mean sewerage has to be treated and made safe before it can be to be dumped (deposited) into the sea. Inland, a sewage farm, collecting sewerage from outlying villages, farms, etc, sprays human sewerage onto filter beds, after the solids have been settled out. Bacteria and pumped in oxygen breaks down the liquid sewage until it is deemed safe enough to be release into the river system and then into the sea. The solids are composted and may be put on to the land as a fertilizer.

it can eventually leach into the soil and also can drain into area waters that are used for human and or animal consumption. It causes the death of fish and fowl also. if it is a caustic or corrosive chemical it can also eat holes in your drain pipes and then you have a plumbing nightmare!
