At the North Pole or South Pole, there is slightly more than 6 months of day, followed by very nearly 6 months of night.

The Earth is tilted on its axis with respect to the plane of its orbit. The ends of that axis, the poles, must be either tipped toward the Sun, or tipped away from the Sun. As the Earth spins, the pole facing the Sun is always in sunlight, and the pole facing away has none. Only 1/2 of a planet can be illuminated at a time, and except for twice a year, the North Pole and South Pole are never both in daylight.

(This because the solar disc has a measurable width, so that the "top" of the Sun can shine on the North Pole while the "bottom" half shines at the South Pole, twice a year on the equinoxes.)

Why do planets have day and night?

As the Earth rotates on its axis it causes the Earth to spin. so the side which faces the sun is day as it is closest to the sun. the side that is further away from the sun is in night as it has no sun and it is dark. while the earth is spinning on its axis the side faceing the sun has day and the side faceing away has night however there is a country which has 6 month day and 6month night and that country is Norway because Norway is in a particular spot in the world which could have 6 month day and 6 month night.

Whether in Norway where 6 month day and 6 months night?

No. This only occurs at the poles. Northern Norway (Svalbard) has 5 months of continuous daylight from mid-April to September and 5 months continuous night from late October to March.

Earth's rotation causes each part of Earth to have what each day?

The rotation of the Earth results in its day and night cycles. The exception to this is in the polar regions that have day and night for 6-months each due the Earth's tilt.

What 3 countries have 6 month day and 6 month night?

Norway, Sweden, and Finland experience 6 months of continuous daylight known as the Midnight Sun in summer in the northern parts of the countries, while 6 months of continuous darkness occurs in winter, known as the Polar Night.

Why does Norway have a 6 month day and 6 month night?

It does not. Only northern Norway is within the Arctic Circle and can experience more than 24 hours of continuous day or night. Only the North Pole and South Pole have 6 months of day and nearly 6 months of night. Svalbard, Norway (latitude 78.4° N) does have a greatly extended period of "midnight sun" during the summer. For 5 months from April to September, the sun circles the horizon and never sets. (see the related question)

Which country has 6 month day and 6 month night and for what it is famous?

Norway experiences 6 months of daylight and 6 months of darkness in regions like Svalbard. This phenomenon is known as the Midnight Sun and Polar Night. Svalbard is famous for being one of the best places to witness the Northern Lights due to its unique light conditions.

What is the result of the angle of tilt that the Earth has on its axis day and night summer and winter continetial drift or different stars visible in northern and southern hemispher?

Has to be summer and winter after process of elimination. It could have been day and night depending on where because in the far north you'll see 6 months of day or six month of night depending on the tilt. It could have been different stars but again that's only subject to one location and continental drift is cause by the heat on the earth core. Therefore the answer has to be b summer and winter because that relates the the earth as a whole.

How night and day happen?

Day and night occur because the Earth is a rotating sphere, only half of which can be illuminated by the Sun at any one time. The sun-lit side is the day side, while the darkened side is in night. If the Earth did not rotate, it would still experience daylight over the entire surface (although for much longer extended periods) because the Earth also revolves around the Sun. This situation occurs at the poles due to the Earth's tilt with regard to its rotational axis. In any event, over a given year's time, all areas of the globe experience a total of 6 months of day and 6 months of night. At the poles, there is 6 months of continuous day followed by 6 months of continuous night.*If the Earth were tidally locked with the Sun, as the Moon is with the Earth, and the rotation/revolution periods were the same, only one side of the Earth would have perpetual day, while the other had perpetual night. This scenario would be highly unlikely to occur for a major planet.

How long is sixteen earth hours and six minutes on neptune?

On Neptune, a day is about 16 Earth hours and 6 Earth minutes long. Neptune has a much longer day than Earth due to its slow rotation, which results in a longer day-night cycle on the planet.
