IT SHOULD POINT TO THE NUMBER ONE SPARK PLUG WIRE SET FOR THE CAP. IF YOU MEAN WHICH ONE IS THAT ON THE CAP, GET A CHILTONS MANUAL FROM YOUR LOCAL AUTOPARTS STORE OR LIBRARY(ZEROX THE PAGES THERE) AND FIND THE FIRING ORDER AND IT WILL SHOW YOU THE CAP PICTURE AND WHERE THE NUMBER ONE SHOULD BE ON IT.
should be in a straight line from center of the distributer cap to the #1 cylinder, or pointing at the #1 cylinder
There should be a label on the engine shroud or on the cylinder head with the serial number and model number on it. The label is usually on the front side.
Open the hood of the car. Locate the cylinder block and check on its left-hand front face. The engine number should be there.
It starts on the side of the engine where the number one cylinder is. This varies by manufacturer, fore instance Chevrolet's number 1 is on the driver side Ford's number one cylinder is on the passenger side.
the number 5 cylinder on a 2003 3.0L Ford Escape is going to be located in the front 3 cylinders of the engine and is the middle cylinder of the front three. To help you out on the coil packs there should be a white tag that will have the cylinder and coil numbers on the tag. This will assure you that you have the right cylinder.
Look on the front of the engine...look to the timing marks on the center pully on the end of the crankshaft. Clean the pully off so you can see the timing marks. Work the marking to O (zero)....when the crankshaft is on TDC, pop off the distributor cap and look where the rotor is...that should be number one...and the number one cylinder is the cylinder in the front. I hope this answers your question. DM
Chevy 350 cylinder 1 on top dead center timing mark aligned , rotor should be at 7:00 (standing at front) distributor cap should be square with engine 7:00 should be at #1 on cap
As on any automobile engine, the rotor turns in a 360 degree circle. When the piston for the number one cylinder is at top dead center on the compression stroke the rotor should point to the number one spark plug tower of the distributor cap.
5w30
like any other engine turn the engine until the number one piston is top dead center and then install the distributor where the rotor button is on the plug wire for number one cylinder it should start there and final adjust by twisting distributor until running smooth
Are you referring to the cubic inches or liters of the engine? Should be a 2.0 unless it is an European model which may be a 1.8.
Call the parts department of a Chevy dealership, give them the VIN number of your vehicle, and they should be able to provide you with it, assuming the engine is still original to the vehicle.
