Ant vacuum port.
You need a vacuum gage, hook it to a vacuum port that has constant vacuum. It should have about 19 to 25 inches of vacuum at idle for a stock engine if the timing is set correctly. Now quickly snap the throttle wide open the gage should drop to about 5 then back to where it was. You can also set the timing by adjusting the distributor so you get highest vacuum reading.
how do you hook up vacuum lines in a 1988 Chevy nova
There should be a vacuum source on the carb above the throttle body that gives spark ported vacuum. You can connect a tube from this source to the distributor.
hook your trailer up and go... if you have a tow package you should see it on your gear selector if you do have it press the button in and a little picture should show up on your gage cluster of a little trailer
The pcv valve should be in a rocker cover with a hose going to a constant-vacuum source such as the base of the carb of a port in the intake manifold.
All engines must have a harmonic balancer instaled on them. Balanced or not. Hook a vacuum gauge to direct vacuum port on intake. That is a place that will have vacuum on it when the engine is running at an idle. Then read gauge and move the distributor until you get the highest vacuum reading. It should be 18 to 21 inches of vacuum at an idle.
It has to be hooked to a vacuum port that only has vacuum on it when you give it gas, That is called ported vacuum. If you look at the holly, you will see some small vacuum ports on it, start engine and witch ever one don't suck on your finger then that will be the 1 you hook it to. Then plug the rest if you don't need them for something else.
there should be a large vacuum source on the base of the carb. if not you'll need to tee off the one going to the power brake booster.
There should be a vacuum port on the back of the intake, behind the carburetor. It has to have vacuum on it at all times.
look under your hook there should be one ....
It does not hook to the intake. It fits on the big vacuum port on the back of the carburetor.
Connect the line to a source that is above the throttle body on the carb. It should be a source that has no vacuum at idle.
