Probably as close to the cab as you can. Or for simplicity, get a TomTom.
Too many things could go wrong if something's not hooked up right. And it would likely void the warranty.

L/H side of truck under hood near the fire wall there are several plugs on top of the front left tire wheel well. The aft plug (nearest the firewall) will have a Gray wire with a black stripe this is the speed sensor wire.
