Yes.
Pretty much- yes. Spain also was, too.
The British taxed the American colonists for far too many items.
yes it sure was! my mom says so too and my older sister that is in college!
April 5th 1774 the colonists was very sad and the New England people did too. They argued about it because the surgar was too small to be taxed on. So the Americans were scared it would be out of the market.
Oh yes - and taxed very heavily too.
"The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much." - Ronald Regan
The mother country was taxing the colonists too much for goods.
The colonists felt that the King of England (George 3) had too much control over them and was abusing that power
you win the game.
Some colonists who were too far away to fight became neutralists.
The actual cost to provide the colonists with protection, infrastructure, and stability was much larger than what they were actually being taxed, and even Englishmen were paying more. They also gathered a huge debt from the French and Indian war and Pontiac's Rebellion (which caused the Proclamation of 1763, because the cost of protection from Indians was too great for British Mercantilistic ideals).
Of course we are. Everyone thinks they are taxed too much except for the almost 50% of people who pay no income tax. Income tax is not the only form of taxes that we pay though. We pay sales tax; gasoline and other fuels tax; liquor, beer and wine tax; telephone service tax; vehicle tax; etc. etc. etc.
