You add fluid the same place you check the fluid level.
Transmission fluid in this car can be added into the top plug on the driver's side of the transaxle for an automatic. It can also be added in the same place as the dipstick for a manual.
To add transmission fluid to a 1998 Mazda Protege, locate the transmission reservoir. It is typically located on the left hand side towards the back of the car under the hood.
There is usually no transmission cap. The tube that the tranny dip stick is in is where you add fluid if it is an automatic. You usually need a funnel that has a longer neck on it. If it isa standard then there is a check bolt that you remove and add fluid that way. Good luck.

Unless you have a LEAK you shouldn't have to add automatic transmission fluid on a regular basis
Check the automatic transmission fluid level. If it is low add enough to reach the full mark. If it is not low seek professional help. If you have to add fluid use only Genuine Honda automatic transmission fluid. Use no substitute.
