Pretty sure it is ferrite
You can measure the ferrite number of a steel using a Severn Gage, a mechanical device; or using a ferrite scope, an electronic device, available from several manufacturers.
These folks do iron powder.http://www.first4magnets.com/index.aspI'm not sure about the other things though. You can buy Arnold Magnetics iron powder cores, ferrite cores, coil formers from Ferysterhttp://feryster.pl/polski/rtmpp.php?lang=enhttp://feryster.pl/polski/rthf.php?lang=enhttp://feryster.pl/polski/rtmss.php?lang=en

ferrite.
A ferrite core inductor with two 47 mH windings. An inductor usually consists of a coil of conducting material.
calcium ferrite is CaFe2O4

Tokamak
While there is no direct correlation, with higher ferrite numbers ( >30) a factor of 0.7 can be applied to produce % ferrite.
* A conductor that can be shaped into a coil. Copper wire, for example. * An isolator that keeps the conductor's threads isolated from each other, thus forcing the current through all loops of the coil. * An electric current through the coil. * Typically, but not necessarily, a ferrite core to bundle the magnetic field.
Zanoni Ferrite was born in 1946, in So Paulo, SP, Brazil.
Pretty sure it is ferrite
according to the ampere's law . magnetic field is strongest in a loop or a plane. and about toroid the magnetic is strongest in the coil where the wire is rotated around it . Magnetic field is minimum inside and outside the toroid.
