At level 79, the best place to go to is Mount Hyjal. This questline starts at Stormwind (for Alliance) or Orgrimmar (for Horde) with a quest that pops up the moment you log/zone in. You will be asked to go to Moonglade and from there to Hyjal.
The quests here are not too difficult and the mobs aren't the strongest, meaning you can progress quite far here regardless of your gear.
I wouldn't recommend Vashj'ir, because it has a lot of 3d geometry to take into account (under water) and getting anywhere is hard without doing the quests to learn to breathe underwater and get your underwater mount. The zone is very fun otherwise, but very long. I'd suggest dipping in Vashj'ir after completing enough quests in Hyjal to reach at least level 80.

For the Alliance: The Alliance has a few more options. They can go to Redridge Mountains, Loch Modan (Eastern Kingdoms), or Bloodmyst Isle (Dranaei area) or Ashenvale (Kalimdor).

∙ 12y agoAt level 45, you should be questing in Felwood, Tanaris, or the Badlands. To start the quest chains for those zones, you should look at the Command boards in your major cities, and it will start the appropriate chains for whichever continent you are on.
