What does Jesus teach christians from the parable of the sower?

It shows us:
- not everybody who hears the gospel will be saved.
- some people will act like christian but are not really
- the gospel (seed) 'grows' best when people (soil) have been prepared to receive it. That is they see they have a need for the gospel - they are sinners and face God's wrath.
- a christian is expected to/should bear fruit.
I think the most important thing for Christians in the parable is that the seed was planted in the soil that was prepared for it. That is where the farmer intended to plant the seed it was only by accident some seed fell on the path and among the rocks. So it is important to prepare people's hearts for the gospel - pre-evangelism - by showing them they have a need for the gospel. With out accepting the gospel they face God's wrath on the day of judgement.

∙ 9y agoThe parable relates how a sower scatters seeds on four different types of soil or ground that are hard, stony, thorny, and good. When seeds fall on the first three soil types, they do not produce fruit. However, the good soil does produce good fruit. In this parable, Jesus is saying that the seed is the word of the kingdom and it bears fruit only in good ground. This ground represents a person that receives and understands the message of the kingdom and allows the message to produce good things in his life.

Not everybody who hears the word of God will respond to its message.
Not everybody who responds to the word of God will go on to be a mature christian.
People whose hearts are prepared for God's word respond better than people who have not been prepared to receive God's word.

∙ 11y agoI think the main thing a christian can learn from the parable of the sower ( Matthew 13) is:
the sower intended to sow the seed in the soil he had prepared.
Seed grows well and bears fruit only in prepared soil, the human heart is not naturally good soil for the gospel, no descendant of Adam is naturally inclined toward God.
Many times sowers of the gospel seed do not spend time preparing the hearts and minds of people before they offer the gospel to them the results are often professions, which last only a short time. There is little permanent growth and fruit in the 'christian.'
The heart needs to be prepared to receive the gospel
, people should see that they have a need. One day they will stand before God and will be found guilty. When a person sees that they have no hope of escaping that guilty verdict then they have a need for the gospel
