Where was Juan cabrillo born and when?

I'm afraid that not much is known about Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo's early years, and historians are divided over his actual country of birth, let alone his date of birth.

So all I can tell you is that he was either Portuguese or Spanish, and that he was thought to have been born around 1499.

Not much to go on, but who knows, maybe one day someone will unearth a document that will tell us all about his date and place of birth.
