The book of Genesis didn't say where Noah's ark was created. In fact, the only information about the whereabouts of Noah and his ancestors back to Adam was the indication of the Garden of Eden as being in the East, and near to four rivers. One of those rivers was the Euphrates, whose source is in modern day northeastern Turkey. But there was no indication which direction Adam and Eve took when they were expelled from Eden. There likewise was no indication as to which direction Adam's and Eve's descendants spread.

A note in John McArthur's Study Bible states that gopher wood, which God directed Noah to use in construction of the ark, was probably cedar or cypress trees, abundant in the mountains of Armenia.
