Most basic difference: The automobile engine is overwhelmingly a gasoline engine. Rail engines were steam at first, and today are either diesel or electric. To my knowledge, there has never been a gasoline railroad locomotive.
the first single engine was made in 1923
The common rail diesel engine was first used by German invention with the fiat company using in marine engines say Borsik fiat
If you mean who made the first combustion engine, i have no idea, but the first Four-Stroke engine was made by Nikolaus Otto.
The common rail systems made by Bosch and used on the Cummins engines in Dodge trucks and in the Mercedes/Dodge Sprinters are self bleeding. All you do is crank the engine and it will purge the air on its own.
Means it's afuel injected engine, with all the injectors sitting on one(common) pipe(rail).
The first rail road was built in 1786

To remove the fuel rail on a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis, first ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls. Next, disconnect the fuel lines from the rail, unplug any electrical connectors, and unbolt the fuel rail from the intake manifold. Finally, carefully lift the fuel rail off the injectors.
To remove fuel injectors, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the battery. Then, relieve the fuel pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls. Next, disconnect the electrical connectors from each injector, remove the fuel rail bolts, and gently lift the rail along with the injectors from the engine. Carefully pull the injectors out of the rail, taking care not to damage the O-rings.
The Fuel rail is on top of the manifold with a crossover tube at the back of the engine. It may appear to be chrome.
