The immediate side effects would be a reddening of the skin, but that wont occur until a dose of over 4000cGy, and many patients dont experience that. Depending on where the radiation is being aimed the patient MAY (not for sure) experience diarrhea, nausea, muscle cramps, some nerve pain.
