The Battle of Long Island, also known as the Battle of Brooklyn Heights, was fought in Brooklyn. The New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens are located on the western end of Long Island. Specifically, the battle was fought in what is now the Brooklyn neighborhood of Gowanus, which is a little bit south of the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, directly inland of Governor's Island.
