Aqueducts are structures designed to transport water from one location to another, typically to supply cities or areas with freshwater. They were common in ancient Roman civilization and were built using a combination of underground tunnels, elevated channels, and elevated bridges to support and direct the flow of water.
The goal of many ancient Roman engineering projects was to connect the cities of Rome with roads and to bring them water with aquaducts.

Aquaducts, cement, roads, domed shaped roofing, andalso they were the first ones to have written laws ;)
Among the best are several sites in Rome itself, including the Coliseum, the Pantheon and the Forum. There are aquaducts in various places in Europe, and the Roman bath in Bath, England. There are many others.
Aquaducts are channels or pipes through which water can pass. For pictures search images.google.com for this word.
