It's estimated that there will be a total solar eclipse in Toronto on 8 April 2024. There'll also be a partial solar eclipse tonight (May 20, 2012) but it'll either be not visible or right at sunset so I hope you get this soon ;) Please see the related links section for a link to a website with dates for eclipses in Toronto.
I believe that it is effected by the equinox. Because the sun appears to move faster across our sky's in the winter or slower in the summer this might be the main cause of why a solar eclipse might differ in time. The moons distance from the earth also differs and this may also affect the rate of time that a lunar or solar eclipse occurs.
The next total solar eclipse will be on July 22, 2009. It will be visible from northern India through China. The next total solar eclipse visible in the United States will be on August 21, 2017. It will be visible from Oregon through South Carolina, but in Georgia it will be only visible as a total eclipse in the very northeastern corner of the state. Much of the rest of the USA will see a partial eclipse. The next total eclipse visible in the southern part of Georgia will be on March 30, 2052.
