The stump-jump plough was invented by Richard and Clarence Smith in the Yorke Peninsula. Richard Smith had land at Kalkabury, and worked on the idea for a plough that would life over stumps at his blacksmith's workshop in Port Wakefield. The plough was first demonstrated at the Moonta Show.
