Before you can fix the idle problem on your Vauxhall Frontera, you need to find out the cause of the problem. If the problem is with the fuel pump or fuel filter, they would need to be replaced.
Overeheating is usually caused by a bad thermostat, blocked radiator or leaking headgasket.
Backfiring in a 1995 Vauxhall Frontera 2.0L Sport could be caused by several issues, including a faulty ignition system (such as worn spark plugs or a malfunctioning ignition coil), air-fuel mixture problems, or exhaust leaks. If the air-fuel mixture is too rich or too lean, it can lead to incomplete combustion, resulting in backfires. Additionally, timing issues, such as incorrect ignition timing, can also contribute to this problem. Regular maintenance and diagnostic checks can help identify and resolve the underlying cause.

It's unlikely that a 2.3TD intercooler engine from a 1988 Omega would directly fit onto the gearbox of a Frontera 2.0 Sport without significant modifications. The engine and gearbox designs, mounting points, and compatibility with engine management systems can differ greatly between models and years. Custom adapters or modifications may be necessary for a proper fit. It's advisable to consult with a mechanic or automotive specialist for a more accurate assessment.
One would shop for a used Vauxhall Meriva from Exchange and Mart. One could also shop for a used Vauxhall Meriva from Calibex, Autotrader, Motors, and Amazon.
This would be a big job, involving a complete new EPS steering column and wiring loom so the control unit can be connected up.Suggest you contact a vauxhall service dept. for a full answer regarding prices. Most people who decide they need power steering just change the car.
If this is the Eco Tech Vauxhall Engine then it will either be the EGR Valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) or the Mass Air Flow Meter. It's worth disconnecting the Mass Air Flow Meter when it is reving and see if this alters the revs if not then I would suggest cleaning the EGR Valve as they get clogged up with black soot and subsequently alters the air to fuel mixture as would the Mass Air Flow!
Vauxhall cars cannot be purchased in the United States. Importing a Vauxhall car could be a possibility which would be costly but people do import cars.
