Check under the hood by the right shock absorber tower or along the frame rail under the car towards to rear
i think i had the same problem in my 97 mercury sable ,,,mine turned out to be a transmission problem. .i would also check fuel filter ,,its located in the lower rear quarter panel
The air intake filter assembly would be connected to the throttle body.
Replace the spark plugs and wires. Replace the fuel filter.
According to the 2002 Mercury Sable Owner Guide : ( the 6 disc C.D. changer is either located in the center console , the trunk , or the right side of the cargo area , that would be for the wagon version )
The price of repairs can vary a lot by location. The estimate to replace the fuel pump on a 1992 Mercury Sable is between $478 and $727. The estimate for the fuel filter replacement is $115 to $150. Both estimates include parts and labor, but not tax.
The 1995 Mercury Sable would have come from the factory with ( 5W-30 ) oil in the engines
The filter is actaully located inside of the transmission itself.....you would have to remove the transmission and tear it apart to get to the filter
According to the 2003 Mercury Sable owners manual : It depends on which engine you have The 3.0 liter " Vulcan " V6 engine and it's flex fuel version take the Motorcraft FL-400-S engine oil filter so the answer would be YES ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The 3.0 liter DOHC " Duratec " engine takes the Motorcraft FL-820-S engine oil filter so the answer would be NO
Probably , there would be a fuse box in the passenger compartment and a Power Distribution Box ( which is " live " ) located in the engine compartment
The fuel filter is located on the passenger side in front of the rear wheel. One bolt holds filter clamp. You need to pull plastic retaining clips out to remove the fuel lines. Some fuel will drain from the filter. I would suggest getting new clips at auto store. They fit 3/8" hose. The hardest part is getting the bolt back in threaded hole.
The starter is located at the front of the engine (front of the car). Look at the engine from underneath, just behind the radiator - follow the heavy gauge black wire to the starter itself.
im wandering where the transmission filter is on my 1996 mystique with a 4 cylinder.the filter has to go inside somewhere but not sure.if this is free it would be a huge help.perry
