Does it matter if aluminum absorbers are near a Geiger-Muller detector when you have a radioactive source of beta particles?

It does if you want to detect the beta radiation. Beta radiation, beta particles, can be stopped with a sheet of aluminum foil. An aluminum "absorber" would act as a shield to the Geiger-Müller (GM) detector and stop the beta radiation, which is really high energy electrons or possibly positrons. Placing a shield between the source of the beta radiation and the GM detector would block the radiation, thus shielding the detector from it. The detector would be "blind" to the radiation. Note that this would be effective if all you wanted to do was look at gamma rays. The gamma rays and the beta radiation would leave the source and head to the GM detector, the beta particles would be blocked by the aluminum, and only the gamma rays would make it to the GM tube to be counted. Oxygen Gas Detectors in Home Improvement?

Oxygen gas detectors, also known as lambda sensors, are an essential appliance for anyone striving for a safe and efficient home. To get the most out of a detector, it is wise to install it where major sources of excess oxygen are located. These sources can include fireplaces, ovens, and garages. An ideal oxygen detector location would be where it can detect harmful concentrations of oxygen coming from every source in the house, instead of having to install a separate detector for each potential source.

Is asbestos hide gold from metal detector?

Asbestos itself does not contain any metal and therefore would not hide gold from a metal detector. Metal detectors are designed to detect metallic objects, and since asbestos is a mineral fiber, it does not interfere with the detection of metals like gold. However, if gold is buried among asbestos materials, the detector may still pick up the gold signal, but not the asbestos.

What is the difference between detect and look for?

To detect something would be to discover that it exists, or is present, without actually knowing of its existence or occurrenceTo look for is to try to find some specific target.I could take a metal detector among the beach to look for coins; whilst looking for the specific target, I could perhaps detect the existence of a different metal object under the sand
