Well, voltage and current levels being identical, alternating current would be safer. It does not spend 100 percent of its time at peak voltage, therefore the average power in case of an electric shock is lower than that of direct current, which is 100 percent. This lesser average may allow some time to detach from the circuit and may not cause such catastrophe to the body.

How does an ac power source differ from a dc power source?

AC power sources are the adapter power sources. DC power sources are the direct power sources. DC stands for direct current, meaning it is a direct source of energy., and AC stands for alternating current, which means it is a secondary source of power.

What is meant by alternative current?

Alternating current is more efficinent. It is wireless and more efficient than direct current. And it is safer. Plus Tesla is better than Edison

Who discovered Direct Current?

Thomas Edison used direct current in his electric power transmission in the 1800's.This isn't very relevant, but it is "Quite Interesting"From QI--Elephant in the Room: In 1903, Thomas Edison made a film called Electrocuting an Elephant, in which he used an alternating current to kill an elephant called Topsy. He used the film as a propaganda film to destroy the reputation of alternating current, owned by Westinghouse, believing his direct current was safer. He tried to encourage people to call being electrocuted, "Westinghoused".

Why do you have AC voltage in homes?

Alternating Current is safer than Direct CurrentAnswerBecause (1) you electricity utility supplies a.c., notd.c., and (2) the ease with which a.c. voltages can be changed and rectified for equipment (e.g. audio equipment) that requires d.c.

Which form of electrical current was favored by Edison?

Thomas Edison favored and promoted DC current. He claimed it was safer than AC. However it was almost impossible to send DC current over a long distance so AC became the standard for the world.

What is Alternate current and direct current?

Direct current commonly known as DC is the current which does not change it's direction of flow, but the magnitude can vary with time where as alternating current known as AC changes it's polarity with time it is not uni directional. the frequency of AC varies but DC donot contain such a feature it's frequency is zero.

Who is responsible for electricity as you know today?

Thomas Jefferson figured out how to harness electricity and make it useful but his system was "direct" current. Meanwhile a fellow named Westinghouse was developng a safer and more reliable method of delivering electricity. He gave us "alternating" current which is what we use in almost all applications like our homes, traffic lights and so on. Direct current is still used in cars but because it has limited adaptability on a larger scale it is not used very often.

What is the DC volts?

DC voltage refers to "direct current," and it can mostly be found in batteries. It means that it flows constantly through the circuit, as opposed to AC (alternating current) which switches flow quickly. There are benefits and downsides to direct current, the benefits being that it is best suited for low-current applications and is easy to work with, the downside being that it loses energy quickly as it flows and cannot reach very high power (voltage).AnswerIn this context, 'd.c.' is being used as an adjective to describe the nature of the voltage.

Is direct link or magnet better?

is a direct link safer

I want to get a tattoo but I also have diabetes. Is it safer if I just not get one?

Yes, it is safer whether you have diabetes or not.

Why is alternating current more convenient than a direct current?

The main advantage offered by using alternating current is that it is easy to achieve the transmission of large amounts of power over very long distances and to do it much more cheaply than by using direct current. The most efficient way to transmit energy by wire is to make it low current and high voltage. AC voltage can be transformed very easily with Transformers (called stepping-up and stepping-down), and transformers only work with AC.Powerplants produce AC by default, so it would take additional effort to convert it to DC.It is much easier and cheaper to convert AC to DC than to convert DC to AC.Another answerAn AC voltage can be easily transformed to a higher or lower voltage, with very little loss of power, by passing it through a device known as a transformer.Alternating current can be converted into direct current very easily so that dc can be made available to any equipment which needs it.

What are some inventions that make electricity safer?

Rubber covered Wire. Fuses. RCD (residual current breaker).
