When it comes to reliability, Toshiba is the best. When it comes to speed and efficiency, Seagate and WD are more on less on par with each other although I’d suggest Seagate. Last month I have purchased Seagate 1200.2 SSD from ESAI TECH at an affordable price.
Yes. Any external hard disk should work. You will then need to configure it from the control panel.
Simply connect your external hard disk to your computer. Then select the songs you want to play later, copy them and paste to your computer hard drive. And after disconnecting your external hard disk you can now play the selected songs from your computer hard drive.

If the computer cannot recognize an external hard disk, it would be virtually impossible to format it. There must be a problem with the hard disk. Consider replacing it or taking it ti where you bought it.
