The Pilgrims wanted to separate from the church in England, which is why they left for America. The Puritans wanted to purify or improve the practices of the church which is why they came to America. The similarities were that they wanted to leave to escape discrimination by the king for their religious practices which did not follow the rules of the English church.

English people did not want to go there and live. The Pilgrims were complete wackos and they had really strict rules about Puritanism.
Well Connecticut was a charter colony and the disadvantages were that they could worship anyone or anything they wanted to and they had no rules to obey. They should of enforced rules and said, "Hey you can have religious freedom but you still have to obey the rules we are enforcing or you can't have religious freedom any more".
