Britain was one of the main countries fighting on the side of the Entente against the Central Powers. Britain, together with its empire, went to war early in August 1914 and fought for the entire duration of the war.
Belgium and the tiny micronation of Luxemburg, then France. It was the German invasion of Belgium which caused the United Kingdom to declare war on Germany in 1914.
In World War 1 France declared war on the central powers which included Austria-Hungary two countries combined under one monarch.

The dislike of Germany from multiple countries began after their invasion of Poland. During WWII, the first two countries to declare war on Germany were Great Britain and France.
