If I'm not mistaken, the only type of movie file that a DVD player can "understand" is the mp4. I'm not for sure what all kind of movie files can be burnt to a DVD to be played on a computer. I do know that mp4 and avi. will both work (again, for the computer). There are converters out there so that it is possible to change the format to a desired one that is capable of being read by a DVD player.
