The 1971 British 1 New Penny was made from bronze and features Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and a crowned portcullis on the reverse. Unless it is in mint condition, it is worth 1 Penny.
If you have a "silver" 1 Penny that matches the description above, you have a 1 New Penny coin valued at 1 Penny.
If you have a "silver" 1 Penny that does not match the description above, you very possibly have a sterling silver Maundy 1 Penny coin valued at up to £25 GBP.
A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.
For many years up to and including 1792, the British Penny was silver. From 1797 to 1860 inclusive, the Penny was copper. From 1860 until its last minting in 1967, the Penny was bronze. From 1971 to 1992 inclusive, the decimal (New) Penny was bronze. From 1992 to present, the decimal Penny has been made from copper plated steel. The only British decimal coins with any brass in the alloy are the One and Two Pound coins.
The bronze English one penny piece, as minted between 1971 and 1992, was 1.52 millimetres thick. The steel one penny piece, as minted since 1992, measures 1.65 millimetres in thickness.
The U.S. never has struck a silver cent. The coin has likely been plated, and is worth just a penny.
Such a coin does not exist. In the English Monarchy, a "bronze" Jubilee is not celebrated or commemorated. A bronze Jubilee represents an anniversary of 8 years which is not a significant milestone. 1977 was the Silver Jubilee year (25 years of reign) of Queen Elizabeth II. 1972 was the Silver Wedding Anniversary (25 years of marriage) of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip. Crown commemorative coins (25 Pence) were issued for both.
Bronze Records was created in 1971.
I am a 25 year coin collector and to my knowledge, there is no such coin produced by the us mint. It may be a silver plated coin done by a collector or enthusiast. In this case it would only be worth face value. ALL 1971 U.S. cents were minted in bronze. Any "silver" penny is most likely plated, although it's possible that your coin could be what's called an off-metal strike. At that time the Mint contracted production of foreign coins and sometimes a blank for one of them would get mixed in with normal U.S. blanks. The best way to make an initial determination would be to weigh the coin; a genuine U.S. bronze cent would weigh 3.11 gm and a plated one would be a tiny bit more.
