Sir Francis Drake
If you mean the Spanish Armada, then Sir Francis Drake was the English leader and Medina Sidonia was the Spanish leader. Hope I helped! :)

Sir Walter Raleigh played a significant role in the English response to the Spanish Armada in 1588. Although he was not directly involved in the naval engagements, his advocacy for naval reform and the promotion of privateering helped strengthen England's maritime capabilities. Additionally, Raleigh's efforts in securing resources and support for the English fleet contributed to the overall strategy against Spain, which ultimately led to the Armada's defeat. His involvement exemplified the broader commitment of English leaders to resist Spanish dominance.
He helped defeat the Spanish Armada and he was the first Englishman to sail around the world ( he even landed in San Francisco Bay).
As the Spanish ships were to close together and the leader of the British fleet sir Francis drake recognised this and sent a ship that was on fire into the Spanish army and since they were to close together once one ship caught fire they all did.
The English did defeat the Spanish Armada. First, Sir Francis Drake sailed into a Spanish harbor and burned many Spanish ships. Secondly, there was a hurricane that blew many Spanish ships off course. Thirdly, the English ships were smaller and they were able to move around the Spanish ships and use their guns effectively.
The English believed the Spanish Armada was defeated because the English had better supplies and sailors and so on. The Spanish believed it was defeated because of the weather - it was very windy and there was a massive storm at the time as well (that couldn't have helped them). In my opinion I believe it was a bit of both.
