Carterton promotes itself as New Zealand's daffodil capital. The Carterton Daffodil Carnival began in the 1920s and now takes place in September in Carrington Park. There is a huttle to Middlerun to pick daffodils. There are small fees for the carnival, daffodil picking etc. Proceeds go to the Carterton St John Ambulance and Carterton Plunket.
