I did this once on an old XP machine thinking it was junk files, and Windows barely booted afterward. XP loves hiding system files in random places, so deleting all 1386 blindly is basically roulette. Check what they actually are before nuking them.
you have to boot from something else, whether it be a floopy disk, thumb drive, or setup cd. you can't delete files that you are currently using. if you boot into windows xp you can't delete windows xp.
Same as Windows XP, however you can't completely delete it, as files are in use.

There is no such thing as a "Windows XP Word file." You open the files in Vista the exact same way you do in Windows XP - with Microsoft Word.
The Windows XP registry files are found on this path: Windows\System32\Config. You can edit registry settings using the Regedit.exe tool.
