Men had the right to vote right from the start of the United States. It was women and slaves that had no rights. At first only men who owned land could vote, but that soon changed to all men. Women had few rights in history. They couldn't own land, couldn't attend upper level education, couldn't have a bank account, couldn't vote nor do many of the same things men did. Not until the 19th amendment to the constitution did women have the right to vote and that happened in the 1920. Even as late as the 1970's did women have a hard time opening a credit card account in their own name, and it wasn't until the late 1980's that there were women fighter jet pilots. Not until Desert Storm were women allow in active combat areas with the men. Women have fought in every war we have had, but they were in rear positions. Today women make less money than men and there are still glass ceilings in many professions that don't allow women to take upper management jobs.
