By definition, no invertebrates have backbones.

If it has a backbone, it's classified as a vertebrate.

(By definition, any animal having a backbone or spinal column is a vertebrate. Any other animal is automatically classified as an invertebrate.)

Nearly 99% of all animals do not have backbones. Such as: sponges, comb jellies, jelly fish, nematodes, flat worms, earthworms, snails, clams, insects, crustaceans, starfish, etc. The only animals that do have a backbone are: fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
