The part of the ear that connects it to the outside world is the outer ear. The outer ear contains the ear drum and the bell. The bell is the part of the ear that shows on the outside.
The internal structure of the ear is fairly simple. There is an eardrum, and also tubes leading to the ear drum from the outside of the ear.
The pinna of the ear collects sound waves. This is the part you see on the side of the head.

extremely loud noise can break your ear drums. sticking things in your ears. hard hits to the head. anything loud or physical trauma to your head can cause the ear drums to be broken.

The ear drum will heal but it will leave scar tissue. So you may have slight hearing loss in that ear. There is nothing that will heal the ear drum to its original condition.
