Which book was written before the gospels?

It is just as unrealistic to place the authorship of the gospels

too late, as it is to place them too early. After much analysis,

scholars have concluded that the first gospel to be written was

Mark's Gospel, and that it was written approximately 70 CE. All

Paul's authentic epistles (Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians,

Philemon, Galatians, Philippians and 1 Thessalonians)

were written well before this date, as probably was the Book of

Hebrews. The Epistle of James may also have been written

earlier than Mark.

The gospels were all written after 104 A.D. and the publication

of the first latin Vulgate bibles by St. Jerome. Jerome had

compiled all of the original story books together before the new

books were 'found'. The old testiment as it appears today is almost

entirely composed of books written before the gospels appeared.

Notably, the first five books of the christian bible are descended

from the Jewish Torah and book of laws (leviticus) which predate

100 B.C.
