Age group voting patterns in the last presidential election would be an example of nominal data. Take the age groups and describe if they tended to vote Democrat, Republican, Independent, and so on. Another example is take the same age groups and determine the brand of cars they typically purchase such as GM, Ford, Toyota, Kia and so forth. Ordinal data example would be to take the same age groups as above and determine highest percentage of education level (say from the Department of Education statistics) from the group such as High School, Technical School, Bachelor Degree, Master Degree, or Doctorate Degree (MD, PhD). Or, take the age same groups and ask then how they think Obama is doing as president: Good, Neutral, or Poor.
Categorical data (or variable) consists of names representing categories. For example, the gender (categories of male & female) of the people where you work or go to school; or the make of cars in the parking lot (categories of Ford, GM, Toyota, Mazda, KIA, etc) is categorical data. Numerical data (or variable) consists of numbers that represent counts or measurements. For example, the number of males & females where you work or go to school; or the number of the make of cars Ford, GM, Toyota, Mazda, KIA, etc is numerical data.

Many cars have been recalled in this lifetime. Though I know two of them. Toyota and Honda.

That's a good car but its longevity depends on the care and maintenance the car has received during its lifetime.
Cho believed that the jettisoning of lifetime employment in many other Japanese companies was a serious danger to the social stability of his country. Layoffs were a dishonorable practice that Toyota would only consider as a last resort.
