Gene Autry's horse was a morgan/quarter horse. Roy Rogers horse is a Quarter Horse/Tennessee Walking Horse.
Tennessee walking or Quarter Horse
Well I have a Tennessee Walking Horse and she is really smart and a good listener. And Tennessee Walking Horses are popular for their natural gait.
The breed of horse is the Tennessee Walking horse because preachers and families would ride the beautiful horses to church on Sundays
The official state horse of Alabama is the racking horse designated by Act No. 1153 in 1975.
A Tennessee Walking Horse is a breed of horse that was founded in Tennessee. They are a breed of gaited horse (meaning they have another gait besides the walk, trot and canter). A TWH performs the "running-walk", which is a lateral 4-beat gait that is extremely comfortable. It feels as if you are rocking side to side, but there is no jolting up and down movement at all.
It is a Quarter Horse Walking Horse mix....or in other words just a grade horse.
Each horse is an individual regardless of breed and they will have varying tastes. So yes some Tennessee walking Horses will like celery, while others will not.
It depends on the breed.
Tennesee Walking Horse
A light horse breed founded in middle Tennessee, the Tennessee Walking Horse is a composition of Narragansett and Canadian Pacer, Standardbred, Thoroughbred, Morgan, and American Saddlebred stock. Originally bred as a utility horse, this breed is an ideal mount for riders of all ages and levels of experience. The breed easily adapts to English or Western gear, and its calm, docile temperament combined with naturally smooth and easy gaits insure the popularity of the Tennessee Walking Horse as the "world's greatest show, trail, and pleasure horse." From http://www.twhbea.com/breed/history.php I have a TWH and LOVE her! Smooth gaits, great disposition and just the right size. She is 15.3 H, but they range from 14H to 16+H.
There were several Champions. On the Gene Autry website only one was referred to as registered and he was a Tennessee Walking Horse. There is no mention of the breeding of any of the other Champions.
