The Movies The Secret came out on DVD in 2006 and came into mainstream in 2007. The Opus was released in 2008 but had been in pre-production since 2005. Most people feel that had The Opus beat The Secret to marketplace the story of success may have been quite different. While both movies feature several of the same speakers and similar messages, the presentation is very different. The camps are not severely divided between the two films however, as they both offer a very different presentation.

Rhonda Byrne has never made an official statement on which film came first and neither has Douglas Vermeeren the producer of The Opus. Both films claim to stand independent one from another, although most people consider the Opus the Secret's sequel. (How intriguing it is to consider that it may actually be chronologically the other way around.)

The Books
The secret book was released in many markets at the conclusion of 2006, but saw most of it's success in 2007. The book based on The Opus is yet to be released. Some reports have suggested The Opus book will be coming out through Random house in early 2010.

What will The Opus answer that The Secret did not?

AnswerThe Opus is not related at all to The Secret. The official website (www.TheOpusMovie.com) states that this is a stand alone film that will address the achievement process - NOT THE LAW OF ATTRACTION.Considering that many of the speakers from The Secret are returning in this film however, it can be expected that there will be soem overlap. But it is definitely portraying itself as a separate film not to be compared. The Movies The Secret came out on DVD in 2006 and came into mainstream in 2007. Is the film 'The Opus' a sequel to 'The Secret'?

The Opus teaches achievement formulaThe Opus is not a sequel to the Secret. It features many of the same teachers from The Secret. (Jack Canfield, Dr. John Demartini, Dr. Joe Vitali, Marci shimoff, Bob Doyle, Morris Goodman and others) but the film is not about the Law of attraction. This film is intended to stand alone and will address specifically the achievement process. The Producer is Douglas Vermeeren, who is a well-known achievement expert and motivational speaker. How will the Opus be different from the Secret?

I just saw a pre- finalized version of The Opus. I enjoyed it very much, but it was much different than The Secret. The Secret was very flashy and fun to watch, but didn't really have a lot of depth and applicable information. Basically it can be summed up in the one phrase "Thoughts become things."The Opus on the other hand was maybe not as "in your face" with the flashy-ness, but there definitely was more meat in the film. Alot of people I chatted with were turned off with The Secret trying so hard to create an ancient secret and felt that those efforsts alone really huirt the credibility of the film. The Opus doesn't begin with a false pretense and makes it more confortable to watch. The information was also better and practical. A lot more that was directly applicable to me and my life. I also really enjoyed the story of The Opus within the film. It was relevant and was inspirational.I felt there were a few moments where both films (The Secret and The Opus) kind of moved a little slowly than what I would have liked- but other people may feel differently. I think in parts the Opus might have been more closer to What The Bleep? in terms of havign better information than the Secret. But The Opus was defintiely more entertaining than What the Bleep.Overall though I thought both films (The Secret and The Opus) were great - but definitely VERY VERY different from each other. I liked both for different reasons. But I when it comes down to it - I think The Opus is a better movie. The Movies The Secret came out on DVD in 2006 and came into mainstream in 2007.
