Vauxhall came before Holden. Many Holden cars resembled Vauxhalls, making them almost the same. Some cars even shared the same chassis, and even sometimes engines.

I don't believe it is since I have worked on cars for over 30 years and have never heard of Holden here in the USA. Holden was bought out by Vauxhall, which is part of General Motors & is now sold as the VXR8
Vauxhall is British but then decided to work together for some reason and now they make the same car. They keep the name Vauxhall for the UK market but Opel for EU. Also Holden is the Australian version and Saturn the American.
