None. The Battle of Britain was an air battle fought in the skies over southern England. It was an attempt by the German Luftwaffe to destroy Britain's air defences prior to the planned invasion of Britain. The attempt failed and the planned invasion (code-name Operation Sealion) was then cancelled.
It was an important seaport.
London, which was heavily bombed by the Luftwaffe. (The Luftwaffe eventually stopped the bomb runs after the Battle of Britain, which took place near the turning point of the battle for air superiority.)
London, England
the most bombed city in Great Britain was London. bombs fell on London for 59 consecutive nights.
At different times the Germans had 90% of the city. However, this was only in early phase of the battle. After the initial attack, it slowly declined until the Germans surrendered and retreated westwards back to Germany.
Dunkirk :) but the Germans bombed them as they tried to evacuate on the beaches
Oxford, which the Germans never bombed. Hitler was supposed to admire all the colleges there.
In a big way. The Germans launched what was called "The Blitz", in which London and outlying areas were bombed constantly for months. Were it not for the British airmen who fought them off, the war could have been lost in this phase.
It's when aircraft from one side bombed a city from the other side, such as the Germans bombing London, or the Americans bombing Berlin.
All of Britain's cities were bombed during World War II
The Airborne halted the German advance at the city of Bastogne.
During World War II, the historic city of Paris was not bombed when the Germans invaded France (in 1940) because of a conscious decision made by French political and military leaders. These leaders declared Paris to be a "Free City"; that is, they communicated to Germany that they would not defend Paris nor use it as a military base, and thus it was spared from being bombed or otherwise attacked.
